Abstract

Communication between teachers and students in learning is one important aspect that determines the quality of the learning process. In the era of the Covid-19 pandemic, communication in learning is required to be used online by utilizing information technology as a medium of learning. This article discusses several important aspects regarding communication in learning in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic, with the hope that teachers are able to understand philosophies, important concepts, and have effective communication skills in the teaching and learning process that they practice in the classroom. The function of communication is as a means of controlling, motivating, expressing emotions, information, material for discussion, socialization, entertainment, integration, education, and culture. The purpose of communication in learning is to create the same understanding, stimulate the thinking of students, and take an action that is in line with the messages that students receive. The basic form of communication can be divided into two types, namely verbal communication and non-verbal communication. The communication process in online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic, namely the message was conveyed from the source (sender) to the recipient, the message was encoded (converted into symbolic form), and forwarded through a number of channels to the recipient, who re-translated (decoding) the message initiated by the sender.
